Four army buddies and their First Sergeant are bound by an unbreakable bond that will be tested by fate.

Vincent, a model soldier, is tragically struck by a relentless lung disease and given only a few weeks left to live. His First Sergeant, Nelson, burdened by guilt for being too hard on Vincent, joins forces with three other soldiers to liberate him from the confines of a military hospital. Together, they embark on an unforgettable journey of self-discovery, set against the backdrop of some of Europe's most vibrant cities.

As they travel first to Paris, Amsterdam, Poland and finally Prague, Vincent and Nelson find solace and camaraderie amidst their personal struggles. Vincent grapples with his impending mortality, hesitant to burden his loved ones, and embarks on a poignant voyage of acceptance. Meanwhile, Nelson faces an unpleasant divorce and fears the consequences of going AWOL. Their escapades, fueled by laughter and a fair share of booze, forge an even stronger bond among these brothers in arms.

The novel explores themes of friendship, redemption, and the profound impact of shared experiences. Through humor and heartwarming camaraderie, the characters face their past demons and embrace their uncertain future. As they grapple with their choices, they discover that life's most meaningful moments are often found in the unlikeliest of places.

Soul Deer is a compelling tale of brotherhood, resilience, and the quest for meaning in the face of life's most challenging moments. This heartwarming novel reminds us that the journey of life is best traveled with those who share our laughter, tears, and triumphs.
